"War ... HUHHH! What is it good for?" Cool C64 soundtracks for starters! For years we have had great fun turning little sprites into a chunky mess thanks to games like "Commando" and "Ikari Warriors" and, thanks to our good buddy the "SID" soundchip, we've had an array of rousing WAR themes to boogie to while we splatter little army blokies. I thought it would be a fine idea to group a bundle of the best soundtracks from games with an "Army" theme and put them out on crispy clear audio CD. I've also had lots of people asking me to do ALL the soundtracks from "Platoon" on CD so here was my chance to do just that! The resulting Compact Disc features 73 minutes of cool C64 music which ranges from gritty and rousing to surprisingly laid back and serene! Some of the finest C64 musicians can be found on the CD (in a musical sense) including Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, Charles Deenen, Jonathan Dunn and assorted other heroes. There's even an "unusual" piece from Tim Follin which I forgot to include on his "Best Of ..." CD! (It was an inspired way to end the CD, I rather thought). The CD is presented with a FULL COLOUR cover featuring more high quality renderings from "Preferred Image". For this CD Mat has produced a classic picture of a "dead" C64 which has been blown in half revealing it's innards. As a mark of respect someone has placed a poppy by the "body" and there's even a couple of bullet casings nearby ... !
