C64 PD Music Mix 1 (digitally remastered)

In 1992 Binary Zone PD first released a 90 minute audio tape which was packed with excellent tunes recorded from various C64 PD releases. The tape was then re-recorded and re-released in 1994 with a slightly different track-listing. And now, all the tunes from version 2 of the tape have been digitally recorded from the very same Commodore 64 for the CD release of the remastered 'PD Music Mix 1'!

So, how did I manage to fit 90 minutes of music onto a 74 minute audio CD? My original plan was fill the CD with the "best" tracks and then feature the rest on another CD which would become available later. This plan was changed when I noticed that a lot of the tracks on the audio tape were faded out before the actual end of the track. For this CD release I decided to record each tune in it's ENTIRETY - which made the running time for all the tracks far longer than the original 90 minutes. When I actually re-did side 2 of the tape I found the full versions of all the tracks took up 72 minutes alone!! As soon as I saw this I knew this compilation would have to fill two CD's.

The finished double CD set features full versions of absolutely every single track from the original audio tape. You also get SIX superb bonus tracks, four stunning STEREO tracks which have been re-recorded and digitally mixed to give pseudo 5 and 6 channel tunes (recorded from one C64!) and there's also some tracks which feature sampled sounds. The CD's are presented in a double CD case with Manga inspired artwork which was drawn exclusively for this CD release by Richard "Flipmode" Frost.

Here's the track listings for both the CD's. Please note that the track names have been taken from the High Voltage SID Collection archive. My thanks to Warren Pilkington for help in identifying the names of some of the tracks that feature on these CD's
